These days we constantly hear people (myself included) talking about building yourself up. This week in Deeper Thoughts we’re going to talk about a few reasons why building yourself up is important to you, what it affects, and some ways you can build yourself up.
When it comes down to it, if you’re not building yourself up, you’re not going to have the ability to build your vision into a reality. Overcoming fears, traumas, limiting beliefs, detrimental habits, and a host of other things build you up and align you to the vision you want to create. On top of this, as you expand and elevate your frequency you can build up the quality of your vision as well.
You are the cornerstone, the ultimate foundation of your vision. If you’re not building yourself up to be strong mentally, physically, and emotionally then you won’t have the resilience necessary to overcome the storms that come to get in your way.
If you’re not actively doing things to build yourself up, you’re a weaker foundation for that vision. A weak foundation cannot support a strong and sturdy building. It will eventually be destroyed.
Build up your resilience to be that ultimate foundation so as you build your vision into a reality, it will weather every storm that comes its way to and never be destroyed.
Building up the mind is crucial to healing yourself. You need to be taking time to study who you are and expand your self awareness. These introspective times are for helping you understand yourself and to love and nurture yourself. You have to understand your emotional triggers and the core woundings they stem from. You have to learn when to be rigid and when to be flexible.
People can support you in life, but it’s ultimately you that does the work to build yourself up and build up the life you want. You have to have the commitment. This all starts in the mind. There you are alone. Others can influence it but it’s you who makes the choices there in your mind. Building up your mind helps you be aware of yourself and the results of the choices you’re making.
Building up your mind builds up your resolve and resilience. The body may break down but if the mind is strong you can overcome any obstacle. Building yourself up starts with building up the mind.
The same applies to building up your family. You can’t just decide you want things to get better without doing any of the work. If you want to build your family up you have to be the cornerstone.
Lead them by example. Be working on and improving yourself, let them see the results, and inspire them to do so. They may very well take different paths than you, but as each family member builds themselves up, together you all build your family up!
Become the foundation for your family so they can build themselves up based on your hard work and the examples you’ve set!
So now that we’ve had the pretty words and inspiring speech, let’s break down how we can really look into the different ways to build yourself up. We’ve touched on some of these but we’ll go over more in depth.
First and foremost, build yourself up physically. This doesn’t mean you have to be a bodybuilder but you need to be taking care of your body. You need to be eating healthier and being physically active, either by doing yoga, weight training, light cardio, anything that has your body active. You need some level of strength to go through life.
Mentally and Emotionally, you have to build these up so you’re not being manipulated. You have to build up your mind so you’re sharp enough to see the bigger picture of what’s going on around you and see ahead down the road. If you’re letting those emotions, good and bad cloud your judgment, then you’re going to make mistakes that cost you. You need to do parts work and shadow work to heal those emotional triggers. Find the needs that wounded child inside you had during the initial wounding and figure out how you can meet those needs safely as an adult. This way when these similar situations arise you’re not reactionary. You can see clearer and not have your judgment clouded.
You need to build up your resilience in as many ways as possible. The above helps give you clarity and mental resilience so you can adapt and overcome the curveballs life throws at you. Learning new skills that can come in handy during emergencies, and even having plans set in place for emergencies should they arrive. Develop connections and networks for if/when there’s a breakdown in infrastructure. Having multiple sources of income. This doesn’t include having multiple jobs. Having a second job might help if you quit or get fired from one, but let’s say you get sick or injured and can’t work at either? You need to have financial systems in place so this doesn’t affect you.
These are but a few ways you can build yourself up so you become sturdier, allowing you to build the vision you have for life and making it long lasting, as well as the ability to build your family up. Doing these things gives them a framework and blueprint to go on in your footsteps to build themselves up.
Another thing to remember, building yourself up is self love. It’s how you fill your cup up, and once you do that you can fill the cups of others and help build them up, but ultimately it all starts with you!
