Welcome back again! We’ve spent the last few weeks going over the elements (see my previous posts about Earth and Air) and this week we’re going over the next element, which is Water.
We take the time to ground and center ourselves with the Element of Earth so we can master our thoughts in the Element of Air. Once we’ve gained control of our mind and thoughts we can move onto our emotions which is the Element of Water.
Our emotions are like an ocean. They move about like the waves in the sea. Sometimes they’re calm and others they’re like a massive storm. Mastering air is like learning to sail in this constantly changing ocean. You recognize the triggers that set you off into anger, or the ones that throw you into depression. You take the lessons you learned in the Air grade and apply them to your emotions by stepping back and seeking out the origin of those triggers and healing those traumas.
The Element of Water is feminine energy. We all have emotions, but women tend to lean into them more than men. Recognizing the sources of your emotions is crucial in life. They are part of your inner guidance system. They exist to let you know when something you perceive as good or bad is happening. Your emotions are the link to your intuition. The more in tune you are with your emotions, the more in tune you are to your intuition, your “gut feeling.”
Water is symbolized in the Tarot by the suit of cups. You can’t fill the cup of others with your emotional energy when yours is empty. You must nurture your relationship with yourself. You must love yourself so you can better love others. You must be in tune with your emotions so you can better emphasize with other people.
In Western and Vedic astrology the element of water is represented by the signs of Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. These are much more sensitive signs who are more attached to their emotions.
Your emotions are a powerful source of energy. In fact, in magick your emotions (water) power your spells while your mind (air) directs it. For example, when you cast for money or for healing you approach it from a feeling of gratitude, as though you’ve already received what you cast the spell for. That feeling, the emotion of gratitude fuels the magick of your spell.
Many times magicians begin to lack results when their emotions become backed up. This is often due to suppressing one’s emotions instead of processing, healing, and letting them flow. Your emotions are the water of your spirit. They need to be flowing. When you suppress them they become stagnant. You need to let down the dam that holds them back. When your emotional energy is flowing, so too does your magick. This doesn’t mean letting them roar about like the waves in a maelstrom at sea. Control them and guide them.
Remember, you are NOT your emotions. You observe and lead them where you want.
In Western and Vedic astrology the element of water is represented by the signs of Pisces, Cancer, and Scorpio. These are much more sensitive signs who are more attached to their emotions.
Working with the Element of Water helps to heal and master our emotions. When we’re no longer slaves to our emotions we are harder to manipulate because we are not locked into the attachments and meanings we assign to the emotions. We’re not tricked by those who poke at our anger to enrage us into foolish action, or tug at our heart strings to trick us into dangerous situations. We heal our trauma’s and thus bring ourselves closer to our manifestations. When our emotions flow like a tranquil stream our energy flows smoother in our lives and we can handle the situations we get put in much more efficiently. Thank you for reading. I hope this information proved helpful and as always have an enlightening day!
