Last week I went over the polarities of the masculine and feminine energies. If you didn’t read that post you can check it out here: The Masculine and Feminine Energies: The Nature and Importance of This Polarity. This week I’ll be going deeper into the masculine side of these energies in Deeper Thoughts.
The Divine Masculine energy is the essence of what it is to be a man. It’s not the toxic masculinity we hear about most of the time with men who are abusive, controlling, addicted, whiny, and weak. The Divine Masculine is the other side of this duality. He is the side of men that we look up to, admire and appreciate. So what are these qualities that he has?
The man in touch with his Divine Masculine energies is logical. He is a creature of thought. He doesn’t get swept up in his emotions day in and day out. He has them and feels them, yes, but he remains sturdy like the mountain in the storm. He bases his decisions on logic and reasoning. When a man in his true essence encounters a problem he seeks the best solution from a place of calmness. He doesn’t freak out or panic. He makes a decision and goes forward knowing he has the solution.
This is what makes him a leader. His clear and rational thinking allows him to make those decisions and lead those who rely on him. He decides what’s best for his family using his logic, commits to that decision, and carries them forward. He doesn’t flip flop trying to decide. He weighs all options and moves forward.
The Divine Masculine is a man of his word. If he tells you he will do something, he fully goes into that commitment and sees it through. If he can’t find a way to make it happen himself, he uses his resources to find someone to aid him and still make it happen. He doesn’t back out at the last minute because he “doesn’t feel like it anymore.” He won’t commit to that which he knows he can’t achieve. If it’s out of his realm he’ll tell you and recommend those who can provide what was asked for.
He is a man of wisdom. He has taken the lessons of his elders and learned how to apply them, along with his own experiences, in the world. He uses his knowledge and wisdom to help those for whom he cares about, and passes along his wisdom to those in need of it.
The Masculine energies makes him a provider. He will do what he can to provide for his family. He makes sure the bills are paid, there’s food to eat, and that the house is there and is maintained and fixes any damage.
He is Strength, not just in his physical body, but in his mind and spirit. He is in control of his urges, and transmutes that energy into manifesting the world he desires. He doesn’t give into his urges for a quick “feel good” moment that will be detrimental to him or those he cares about. He doesn’t give into sexual urges for one night stands or pornography. He doesn’t gamble away all his money for the rush. He doesn’t seek escapism through alcohol or drugs.
This man isn’t afraid to look in the mirror. He is self aware and studies himself as well as the world. He knows his shortcomings and weaknesses. He then learns how to strengthen them. He is ever on the quest of evolving into the best version of himself. He knows who he wants to be and aligns himself with that version. He’s not afraid to heal from his past.
He uses his energy to take action! He doesn’t sit around waiting for things to fall into his lap. Instead of waiting for things to happen for him he makes them happen! He is active instead of passive. He is direct in stating what he wants and not passive aggressive. He sees what he wants and goes for it. He wants that car or that house and works hard to make it happen. He sees that girl and instead of hoping she comes to him, he goes up to her to strike up the conversation. He asserts himself where he wants to be for the advancement of himself and his family.
The masculine is kind, but not “nice.” He can be compassionate and loving, but he sticks to his boundaries and doesn’t let anyone cross them. (For more on boundaries you can read my article Boundaries: What Are They and Why They're Important.) He can be fierce when he needs to be.
A Divine Masculine man can indeed be aggressive, but it is a controlled aggression. He doesn’t lash out in anger. He doesn’t beat his wife or kids. He doesn’t mindlessly get into fights to prove his manliness. His aggression comes as a response to protect his family, his home, and himself. His aggressive nature comes out as a last resort when all other options are no longer viable. He is the protector. He wither’s the storm so that his wife and family do not have to face them. He shields them from all that’s out there. He fights the hardships of life to create a safe space for those he loves so that they can expand. He is willing to risk his life in defense of them and the home from all attackers that threaten them. He faces all fears and knows he will overcome them in the defense of his family.
He is a lover. He loves his woman, his family, his friends, and the world. He is aware of the horrible things in this world, but still can see the good and appreciate it all. He loves life and all it has to offer, its beauty, art, and joy. He isn’t a bore. He enjoys the life he is given and has fun knowing that it is all temporary to ignore it all is a waste.
He is competitive. He competes for the challenge and doesn’t shy away from tests. He wants to see his level of skill and where he can improve it. He faces it with courage and a grin on his face. This is especially true when he is with his friends. He takes their jokes, which to outsiders seem as insults, dishes his own, then jumps into the “arena.” They compete to prove themselves and to form comradery.
The Divine Masculine is confident in himself and his ability to execute. And he doesn’t have to be the loud one in the room bragging about it all. He doesn’t have to show off to prove himself. The energy from his presence permeates the room. You can feel his confidence. You can see it in his body language. His energy alone puts those around him at ease and makes them feel safe.
It is in these ways and more that a man is connected to his Divine Masculine energies. When he is connected to the Divine Masculine he creates a safe space of containment for his female counterpart. In this space she is able to grow into her Divine Femininity, knowing she is protected and can be soft. I’ll be discussing the Divine Feminine next week. In the meantime, I hope this article inspired the men reading to lean into their Divine Masculine energies and become a better and higher version of yourself. Thank you for reading and have an enlightening and Divine Day!
